Scene 02 · The experience

Five ways into the morning.

A calm, welcoming hour of physiotherapy-led movement education—shaped for a community setting and paced to the early light.

General group movement and education, not individual physiotherapy assessment or treatment.

01

Breath

Use an easy rhythm to notice the relationship between breathing, posture and unhurried movement.

02

Balance

Explore steady weight shifts with options to keep movements small, comfortable and well supported.

03

Mobility

Move through gentle ranges without forcing, chasing a stretch or promising a particular result.

04

Coordination

Pair simple upper- and lower-body patterns, with time to pause, reset and choose your own pace.

05

Body awareness

Notice contact, effort and ease. The invitation is to pay attention—not to perform or compete.

Grounded practice

Slow enough to notice. Clear enough to follow.

Each sequence is offered with practical options for stance, range and pace.

This is physiotherapist-designed, Tai Chi & Qigong-informed therapeutic movement—physiotherapy-led, evidence-informed and practised within professional scope.

The GC Integrative translation

One current.

Modern physiotherapy brings structure, measurement and clinical reasoning. Tai Chi and qigong-informed practice brings refined slow movement, breath and attention.

Together they form a whole-person movement experience: grounded in science, informed by tradition and kept within scope. It may support balance, movement confidence and body awareness. Individual results vary.

About the precinct

Village Heart, in context.

We meet at Village Heart, in the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct at Southport. It is seven hectares of open green space on Village Boulevard — trees, a walking track and picnic shelters — set between the precinct's research and hospital campuses and the sports fields at Musgrave Sports Park.

The Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct spans more than 200 hectares in Southport. It brings together Gold Coast University Hospital, Griffith University's Gold Coast campus, Gold Coast Private Hospital and the Smith Collective residential community, alongside research and innovation tenants. Village Heart is its central public green.

Community Giving / The Physio-Qi Program

Care that reaches
beyond the class.

Physio-Qi brings people together through movement, connection and a shared wish to contribute. Our community charity initiative carries that spirit beyond the session, towards people and communities facing difficult circumstances.

We want taking part to have a shared purpose: time for our own wellbeing, a stronger sense of community, and an opportunity to help others.

This Physio-Qi activity is supported by the City of Gold Coast Active & Healthy Program.
